wedded bliss

Last night two of our friends were married, in a beautiful old church surrounded by friends and family. Everyone looked lovely, the bride was stunning, the food was delicious, the setting was beautiful despite the non stop rain and most importantly the love between the couple was plain to see. There was even fireworks! The wedding was just down the road from where my hubby and I were married almost 5 years ago and it was nice to take a trip down memory lane. Nanny was in charge of the kids (ie my Mum, not an actual nanny) and we set off for a child free overnighter. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this was our first in nearly 3 years... oops! I mean really, where has the time gone? I also can't believe its been that long since our wedding. September 2007, we spent a beautiful weekend with our friends and family, who all travelled a great distance, some from the other side of the world. We had dinner the night before with our families and bridal party, were married on the Saturday and then held a breakfast/brunch bbq at our hired house for our 80+ guests on the Sunday. It was perfect. The sun was shining the entire weekend as we got so lucky with the weather. Everything went according to my 18mth-long plan, and everything was brilliant! We had a ball!! And I still am so pleased with the venue we chose. Today we went for a little re-visit, as it would have been silly not to given how close we were. The building is still beautiful and was part of what I fell in love with the very first time I clicked on their webpage. There have been some modifications and additions, such as a beautiful sandstone chapel and a new day spa and some new accommodation. It's still a gorgeous location and a spectacular wedding venue that I would highly recommend to anyone considering getting married. In fact I told my hubby I would seriously consider renewing our vows there in a few years time....
I also wore the dress I mentioned last week, the one I bought that was a couple of sizes smaller than normal and a bargain. I felt like I looked the part for the wedding, even if I did forget to put mascara on - don't ask. Next wedding I go to though I am SO wearing a bright colour as thats my dream wedding guest outfit. Some pics below of THE dress and of course hubby and I...

now I'm off to google dresses for my upcoming (haha) vow renewal. . .
